How to Make Your Temporary Tattoo Last 2 Weeks (Not 2 Days)

You very carefully applied that temporary tattoo, only to watch it flake away within a day or two. Sound familiar? The difference between a tattoo that lasts two days and one that lasts two weeks isn't magic — it's preparation, placement, and a handful of habits most people skip entirely. Why Temporary Tattoos Fade So Fast Temporary tattoos sit on the outermost layer of your skin. Your skin naturally sheds this layer every few days, but friction, moisture, and oil all speed this up. Fix the foundation, and everything else gets easier. Step 1: Prep Your Skin  The Night Before The single biggest longevity mistake is applying a temporary tattoo to moisturized skin. Lotions and oils — even ones you applied hours ago — leave a film that prevents adhesion. Here's what to do instead: ✓ Exfoliate the area gently with a scrub or dry brush to remove dead skin. Smooth skin = better contact. ✓ Shave if needed — even fine body hair lifts the edges and lets moisture sneak underneath. ✓ Skip the moisturizer on that spot for at least 12 hours before applying. ✓ Clean the skin with rubbing alcohol right before application. This removes any oils or residue and creates an ideal surface. Step 2: Apply It Properly Most application instructions tell you the bare minimum. Here's the extended version that actually works: 01 Press Firmly & Evenly Use a damp cloth and press with firm pressure for at least 60 seconds. Work from the center outward to eliminate air pockets at the edges. 02 Wait Before Peeling Give it 2–3 full minutes before lifting the backing. Peeling too early is the #1 cause of patchy transfers. 03 Let It Dry Completely Don't touch it, rub it, or put clothing over it for at least 10 minutes after removing the backing. 04 Seal It In Once dry, apply a thin coat of clear setting powder or translucent hairspray from 12 inches away. This dramatically extends wear. Step 3: Choose the Right Spot Placement matters more than almost anything else. High-friction and high-sweat zones destroy temporary tattoos fast, no matter how well you applied them. ✓ Best Spots Outer forearm Upper arm / shoulder Calf or shin Upper back Ribcage Ankle bone ✗ Avoid These Inner wrist (friction) Hands & fingers Feet & toes Neck / under chin Backs of knees Anywhere clothes rub Step 4: Daily Care to Make It Last Once it's on, your habits determine how long it stays. A few simple changes can double its lifespan: ✓ Pat dry, never rub. Towel friction can peel away at temporary tattoos. Pat the area gently every time you shower or wash. ✓ Moisturize around it, not on it. Keep surrounding skin hydrated (which helps it shed more slowly), but avoid applying lotion directly over the tattoo. ✓ Apply baby powder or setting powder daily. A very light dust keeps it matte, reduces tackiness, and prevents friction damage. ✓ Avoid long soaks. Long baths, hot tubs, and swimming pools accelerate fading significantly. Chlorine is particularly harsh. Quick Reference: Your 2-Week Checklist ✓ Exfoliate the day before applying the temporary tattoo  ✓ No moisturizer on the area for 12+ hours ✓ Clean with rubbing alcohol immediately before applying ✓ Press firmly for 60 seconds; wait 2–3 min before peeling off the backing paper ✓ Seal with clear powder or setting spray once dry ✓ Choose a low-friction body location ✓ Pat dry after every shower ✓ Avoid pools, long baths, and direct sun

Tattly and Inbox Closed. Here's Your New Favorite Temporary Tattoo Brand.

If you've spent the last few weeks Googling "Tattly alternative" with a slightly panicked energy, you are not alone. In early 2026, one of the most beloved temporary tattoo brands on the internet quietly shut its doors. We're here to help you fill the void that was left behind, but first let's debrief on what happened. Tattly officially shut down on February 23, 2026, after 15 years in business. Its founder, Tina Roth Eisenberg, had sold the brand to BIC in 2021, which also owned Inkbox. In December 2025, BIC announced it was shutting down its entire Skin Creative division — taking Tattly and Inkbox with it. Two beloved brands, gone in one corporate announcement. Tattly wasn't just a product — it was a vibe. Artist-designed, thoughtfully made, good enough to actually wear in public without feeling like a five-year-old at a birthday party. Finding something that meets that bar? That's where we come in. Saint Tattoos is Everything You Loved About Tattly, Reimagined We started Saint Tattoos because we believe temporary tattoos deserve to be taken seriously. Not as an afterthought, not as party favors — but as wearable art that happens to wash off. Here's how we hold up: Artist-Designed Originals Most of the temporary tattoos in our shop are designed by artist and owner, Emma Mannino. The rest of our temporary tattoos are designed in collaboration with painters, illustrators, printmakers, and tattoo artists from across the United States to bring you beautiful art that you can wear. Safe for All Skin Our tattoos are made with skin-safe, non-toxic inks tested for kids, adults, and everyone in between. No harsh chemicals, no surprises. A Design for Every Mood Florals, fine-line, bold graphics, quirky illustrations — our catalog spans styles so you can find the perfect match, whether it's for a Tuesday or a wedding day. Custom & Personalized Want something made just for you? We offer custom temporary tattoos for events, weddings, businesses, and gifting. Your design, your vision. Kids, Adults, Wedding Parties —Saint Tattoos are Designed for Everyone One of the things Tattly did brilliantly was make temporary tattoos feel genuinely fun for every age group. A kid's birthday party and a bachelorette weekend could both find something perfect. We've kept that energy alive. We have bright, whimsical designs for the kids. There are fine-line botanical designs for adults. And custom tattoos are a hit at weddings, bachelorette parties, brand activations, and corporate events. Shop Saint Tattoos

Easter Egg Decorating with Temporary Tattoos

Easter Egg Decorating with Temporary Tattoos

If you’re looking for a fun way to elevate your decorated eggs this year, we have the perfect solution—temporary tattoos! This fun, all-ages project works just like applying tattoos to skin—just add water! To help the decorating process, or just to have a little fun with a coloring page, I’ve created a PDF Guide to get started: Print your coloring page / decorating guide Okay, now let’s get to the eggs! 1. Start with Clean, Dry Eggs – you can use real eggs, paper mache eggs, or wooden eggs. With the cost of eggs these days, we opted out of the real thing and used these wooden eggs. They’re also great because they store great and can be used for years to come! 2. Paint your eggs with a base coat. I use gouache acrylics, but that’s because I’m a professional artist and have these laying around my house. Any acrylic paint will work for this project! Once the base coat is dry, paint a big circle in the middle in a different color. I chose lighter colors, since the temporary tattoos will show up better over light colors. 3. Paint patterns! I created this cheat sheet to help spark some ideas in this step, but let your creativity go wild! paint frames, ribbons, flowers, greenery, anything! allow your paint to fully dry. I let mine dry overnight. 4. Make sure your paint is completely dry before attempting this step! Choose a temporary tattoo (You can find some temporary tattoos here if you don't already have some). Remove the plastic film, and trim it close to the edges. Place the tattoo face down on the egg and hold a damp cloth or sponge over it for about 10-20 seconds. Then gently lift the paper backing to reveal your beautifully decorated egg! Allow the tattoo to set for a few minutes before handling, and then - voila, a beautiful majestic egg. DIY Classroom Valentines: A Fun and Easy Craft with Temporary Tattoos

Valentine’s Day in the classroom is always such a sweet and exciting time for kids! If you’re looking for a creative, fun, and easy DIY Valentine idea (that doesn’t involve candy!), I’ve got the perfect project for you. This year, we put together handmade Valentines featuring painted hearts, a cute little poem, and of course—temporary tattoos! What You’ll Need: Thick cardstock or watercolor paper Paint (we used kids washable acrylics, but watercolor works too!) Scissors Printer & paper for your Valentine’s message Paper bags (THESE ARE THE BAGS WE USED) Glue or tape Temporary tattoos (you can shop ours here. if you’re interested in ordering 20+, please inquire for large-quantity discounts!) How We Made Them: First, We cut heart shapes out of thick cardstock to create a sturdy base. I let my little one go wild with painting each heart however she wanted. This step makes them extra special and unique! Print the Valentine Message – I typed up a simple, sweet message: 🩷 "Roses are red, violets are blue, I love being your classmate, here's a temporary tattoo!" I left a space at the bottom for her to sign her name so her friends knew it was from her! Assemble the Valentines – Once the hearts dried, I glued the message onto the painted heart, and then attached the heart to the front of a small paper bag. Stuff Each Bag – The final touch? I tucked a temporary tattoo inside each bag for a fun little surprise! Why We Loved This DIY: ✔ Encourages creativity – Painting the hearts made each Valentine feel special.✔ Personal & handmade – So much more thoughtful than store-bought cards!✔ Candy-free but still exciting – Every kid loves a temporary tattoo! These DIY Valentines were a huge hit, and they were super simple to make. If you try this with your little ones, I’d love to see how they turn out—tag me on Instagram! Happy crafting & Happy Valentine’s Day!
